Jackie Chan Appeared In Charity Show

Jackie Chan, Hong Kong Kung Fu Superstar, came to Singapore for Thong Chai Charity Show. The event is a fundraiser for the Singapore's Thong Chai Medical Institution. Thong Chai Medical Institution was set up in 1867 to provide free medical consultation and traditional Chinese medicine to the public. The Thong Chai Charity Show was telecast "live" on MediaCorp's Channel 8 on.

Thong Chai Medical Institution was set up in 1867 to provide FREE medical consultation and traditional Chinese medicine to the public. At the end of the evening programme, total amount raised was $7,230,000 of which about $500,000 was directly from appeals by actors and artists during the two hours show. The live telecast of the charity show has also helped to raise the profile and awareness of Thong Chai. On the following day, some 1,000 people turned up to seek treatment which was sharply higher than the usual 600 people that show up daily for treatment.
