Cigarette Seller Suspended

Monday, 5th April 2010

THE Authority has suspended the licence of a tobacco retailer for repeatedly selling tobacco products to underage kids. Plainclothes inspectors from HSA (Health Sciences Authority) caught an employee working at a 7-Eleven outlet in Bugis Village, selling a packet of cigarettes to a person below 18 years.

The retail outlet had previously been caught for similar offences, therefore this time round, have their licence suspended by the HSA for six months. In Singapore, errrant retailers can be fined up to $5,000 for the first conviction and up to $10,000, as well as a suspension of retail licence, for subsequent convictions.
