National sailors Justin Liu (Age 19) and Sherman Cheng (Age 18) took the men's 420 crown at the International 420 (Class Dinghy) World Sailing Championship in Haifa, Israel. The Team Manager, Miss. Serena Wong, said: "Everyone in the team is very happy for their result because they are the first Asians to win this world championship, so it's kind of a historic win for Asia as well as Singapore, and we're all very proud of them."

The International 420 Class Dinghy is a monohull planing dinghy with centreboard, bermuda rig and centre sheeting. It is designed for a crew of two. The name describes the overall length of the boat in centimeters (the boat is exactly 4.2 meters long). With its trapeze and spinnaker it provides the capability for advanced sailing techniques for international standard sailors, while still remaining affordable and accessible to beginners.
