The eventful two hours race where they speed around the Marina Bay Street Circuit 61 times in the middle of the night under bright lights, was eventually won by Fernando Alonso (2008 Winner). Lewis Hamilton, last year (2009) winner, crashed out angrily in a failed overtaking attempt.

Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone described Singapore Grand Prix (SGP) as the jewel in the sport's crown. According to him, the Singapore night race is the world's most-watched motor sport event (about five hundred million viewers world-wide). The race attracted nearly a hundred thousand (100,000) live spectators, about 40 per cent of whom are from overseas. The Singapore race also coincide with the launching of a PC, PS3 and Xbox game version of the entire 2010 F1 Season.

According STB (Singapore Tourism Board) the Singapore Grand Prix drew about 40,000 visitors from all over the world. The Formula One race has helped to brand Singapore as a premier lifestyle destination to a global audience.
