12 Arrested In Sim Lim Square

Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officers and Entertainment Software Association (ESA) lawyers hit the retailers at Sim Lim Square, a popular shopping complex selling computer related products.  During the simultaneous raids, 12 men were arrested and seized goods that worth an estimated value of $12,000. They were also believed to have provided illegal modification services for game consoles which enabled pirated games to be played on them.

In Singapore, any person found guilty of selling or distributing counterfeit products are liable to a fine not exceeding $10,000 for each article, and up to a maximum fine of $100,000, or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years or to both.
