Robert Mugabe, President of Zimbabwe, said he was in Singapore on holiday. The 86 year old reportedly looked fit and healthy as he was addressing a group of reporters on his return to Harare. He said he and his family was having his usual end of year break in Singapore. He denied having had any emergency surgery in Malaysia. According to his spokeperson, Robert Mugabe had his "cataract" removed in Mount E.

Robert Gabriel Mugabe was born 21 February 1924. He is the second and current President of Zimbabwe. One of the leaders of the liberation movement against white-minority rule, he was elected into power as the head of government since 1980, as Prime Minister from 1980 to 1987. In 1994, Mugabe was appointed an honorary Knight Grand Cross in the Order of the Bath by Queen Elizabeth II of England. But in 2008, the English Queen cancelled and annulled the honorary knighthood.

Mugabe married his former secretary, Grace Marufu, 41 years his junior in 1996, after his first wife died. Mugabe and Grace had an adulteress relationship while his wife was still alive. As First Lady, Grace has been the subject of criticism for her lifestyle. Her sometimes lavish European shopping sprees have led to the nickname "Gucci Grace".
