Tuesday, 13th September 2011

OCBC Banking Network crashed during the day. As such, the banks customer was not able to use its ATM network, its internet, mobile banking channels and even all its branch's front-end banking systems. According to the OCBC, the problem was first detected at about 9am and system was restored only a few hours later. Luckily for their customers the bank branches was able to perform manual transactions, however cash withdrawals can still be made to a maximum of S$2,000 per transaction.

According to OCBC on an average day, about 20,000 ATM transactions are done between 9am and 1pm.

Tagline pasted on their ATMs "Your banking security comes first at OCBC Bank." OCBC has more than 600 ATMs all around Singapore.

In a statement released at 5pm, in which it stated "...all customer data was protected". Does that meant that all their ATMs have Anti-virus software installed?
