Singapore Institute of Technology Formed

Dr Ng Eng Hen, the Minister for Education, annouced the establishment of the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT). According to Dr. Ng, it is an exciting initiative in the educational landscape which serves to enhance upgrading opportunities for polytechnic graduates to meet the changing demands of the economy today and in the future. SIT will be responsible for planning, managing and implementing degree programmes offered by renowned overseas universities in partnership with the 5 polytechnics in Singapore - Singapore Polytechnic, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Temasek Polytechnic, Nanyang Polytechnic and Republic Polytechnic. Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) was previously named the Singapore Institute of Applied Technology.
