Alexandra Hospital was built by for the British Soldiers in 1938 and it is located in the central-western area of Singapore. It was known as Alexandra Military Hospital and was the largest and best equipped hospital in the British 'Far East Command'. It functioned as a base hospital for British troops in the Far East and played a leading role during World War Two. Following the British Government's decision to withdraw from the Far East, the hospital was handed over to the Singapore Government in 1971, and it was renamed Alexandra Hospital. Alexandra Hospital is restructured in 2000 and becomes a business division of National Healthcare Group. Today, Alexandra Hospital is a 400-bed general and acute care hospital, offering our patients the very best in personalized care and a tranquil, healing environment.
