Bedok Waterworks

Bedok Waterworks was commissioned by PUB in 1986 with a treatment capacity of 136 megalitres per day. The raw water is mainly from urbanised catchments with stringent pollution control measures in place and impounded in Bedok Reservoirs. The treated water is supplied to consumers in the eastern part of Singapore. The waterworks makes use of conventional treatment process. It includes pre-ozonation, coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation using solids contact clarifiers, primary disinfection using ozone, dual media rapid gravity filters and post-treatment. Residual disinfection using chlorine, pH adjustment for corrosion control and fluoridation to prevent dental caries are carried out in post-treatment. To facilitate efficient operation of the raw water collection and water treatment system, the Bedok Waterworks is equipped with a round the clock computerised control system.
