Pei Tong Primary School started out as Pei Tong Public School located in a little village, known as "Little Pandan", off Clementi Road in 1948 by a number of civic-minded people to cater to the needs of the children in this village. The residents around this area were mainly engaged in farming and construction. Pei Tong Public School moved into 50 Sunset Grove on 1972. The running of Pei Tong Public School was handed over to the Ministry of Education in 1981. The new government primary school to be built on Avenue 5 Clementi New Town be named Pei Tong Primary School. All the teaching and non-teaching staff and pupils be transferred to the new school.
