Two RSAF F-16A Collided Over South China Sea
Monday, 8th July 1991
Mid-air collision between two RSAF F-16A occurred over the South China Sea. One of the F16 had a third of the right wing was sheared off and the flap bent up 90 degrees. There was also damage to the vertical and horizontal stabilizers on the right side. The other F16 crashed into South China Sea and the pilot ejected out safely.

Goh Chok Tong became Prime Minster

A new chapter opened in Singapore's modern history Goh Chok Tong became the second Prime Minster of Singapore when he took over the office from Lee Kuan Yew who resigned after having been Prime Minster since 1959.
Air Force new logo featuring the lion head

RSAF Trainer Jet Crashed Into River In Johor

Two Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) pilots ejected safely when their SIAI-Marchetti S.211 trainer aircraft crashed near the mouth of the Endau River in Johor while on a routine training flight.
Swing Singapore

Swing Singapore, a mass party, was first sponsored by the then Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew. About 250,000 people attended the party in August 1988 on Orchard Road to boogie, shimmy, shake or twist to music blasted from huge loudspeakers by popular singers and disc jockeys who were perched up nine metres on mobile cranes. Orchard Road was turned into a kaleidoscope of lights for the event. The event was organised by Singapore Armed Forces Reservists' Association (SAFRA) and sponsored and produced by Fraser Neave. Swing Singapore revelries brought fun, frolic and merry to many a Singaporean's life. However, in 1992 it was discontinued despite its continuing success.
RSAF Pilot Kill During Training

A Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) 23-year old pilot, Lieutenant Chung Chien Wen, dies after ejecting from jet who ejected from his Hawker Hunter aircraft. The plane was on a training flight in the Philippines.
Marxist Plot Exposed

Sixteen persons around Singapore were arrested by the Singapore Secuirty Department (a political police) and were immediately imprisoned in the Whitley Road Detention Centre. Among the 16 arrested, 10 belonged directly to militant Catholic movements for social justice and human rights. The arrests of the activists was followed by five days of silence. It was only on the 26th of May that the voluminous communique of the Minister of Home Affairs was published.
Two Primary School Boys Went Missing Forever

A year earlier two 12-year-old schoolboys, Keh Chin Ann and Toh Hong Huat, had gone missing. Despite a huge police search, a poster campaign, a $100,000 reward from MacDonald’s and a feature on television’s Crime Watch program, nothing had emerged which would explain their disappearance. The two Primary Six students of Owen Primary School were last seen on their way to school. The search for them was extended to Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia, but proved to be fruitless.
