HDB Releases Two EC Housing Sites

The Housing & Development Board (HDB) released two Executive Condominium (EC) housing sites at Tampines Avenue 8 and Segar Road for sale by tender. With a potential yield of 1,095 dwelling units, these 2 sites will offer home buyers with more housing choices. Project is given 48 months (4-years) to complete from the date of acceptance of tender. And they will have a 99-years Lease Term.
Singapore Architectural Heritage Awards 2010

The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) today announced eight winners for this year’s Architectural Heritage Awards (AHA). The awards was presented to the recipients at 36 Armenian Street which is also one of the winners this year.
Sixteen Year-Old Charged For Theft In School

A 16-year-old student from Seng Kang Secondary School, Luke Sebastian, was charge with stealing $30 and a mobile phone worth about $100. According to the police, at about 2pm on 27 September 2010 the school reported of the theft. The police then rounded up seven Seng Kang Secondary School boys for investigation.
Apache Helicopter Crash Landed

A Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF 120 Squadron) Apache AH-64 helicopter from Sembawang Air Base made an emergency landing in an open field next to Seagate Woodlands Building. According to the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF), the helicopter was on a routine flight when it encountered engine problems and the two pilots chose an open field to crash land it.
Lee Kuan Yew Hospitalised

Modern Singapore's founding father Lee Kuan Yew, was hospitalised for chest infection. He was seen coughing badly a couple days earlier while watching the F1 Singapore Grand Prix from an observation deck located at Marina Bay Sands (MBS).
Singapore Sports Hub Groundbreaking Ceremony

The old National Stadium at Kallang had surrendered to the demolition ball as it is being torn down to make way for the Billion Dollars Singapore Sports Hub. The Sports Hub will be Singapore's premier land and sea sports, entertainment and lifestyle hub with integrated programming. the Sports Hub will include the following facilities: a new 55,000-capacity National Stadium with a retractable roof; a 6,000-capacity indoor Aquatic Centre that meets world tournament standards; and a 3,000-capacity multi-purpose arena which will be scalable and flexible in layout. After a two-year delay, the groundbreaking ceremony was finally held for this billion dollar installation in Kallang.
Brunei Deputy Minister of Defence In Singapore

Brunei's Deputy Minister of Defence, Mr Mustappa Sirat, called on Singapore's Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean at the Ministry of Defence (Mindef). He also visited the Murai Urban Training and Facility, Sungei Gedong Camp.

The Singapore Edition of F1 race started with Team Ferrari's driver Fernando Alonso, Team Red Bull's driver Sebastian Vettel, Team McLaren's driver Lewis Hamilton and followed by the rest of the 24 racers in their odd looking cars. The eventful two hours race where they speed around the Marina Bay Street Circuit 61 times in the middle of the night under bright lights, was eventually won by Fernando Alonso (2008 Winner). Lewis Hamilton, last year (2009) winner, crashed out angrily in a failed overtaking attempt.
Mas Selamat Back In Singapore

Mas Selamat bin Kastari, a leader of Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) terrorist network, who was captured in Johor last year, was send back to Singapore by the Malaysian authorities. Mas Selamat was transferred back to Whitley Road Detention Centre, the very same facility he had escaped from in February 2008. There was probably a "Selamat Datang ke Singapura Mas Selamat" banner in his cell.
Jailed For Robbing Goldsmith

Koh Koon Hong, a 35-year-old man, had pleaded guilty to the heist at Goldsmith located along New Upper Changi Road with Tan Choon Huat, 52, and Lee Yeow Kwang, 48, while armed with a 45cm-long knife on 23 April 2010. The three escaped on two stolen motorcycles and later sold the million dollar loot to a goldsmith at City Plaza for half a million dollars. The goldsmith melted the items into five gold rods which were later recovered by the police. Koh, who was arrested four days later, was given $80,000 for his part in the crime.
