Tanjong Pagar Train Station To Relocate

The Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) station will be relocated from Tanjong Pagar to the Woodlands Train Checkpoint (WTCP) by 1 July 2011. Malaysia would co-locate its railway CIQ facilities at WTCP. Singapore would facilitate the relocation to the WTCP and ensure bus service connectivity from the KTMB Station at WTCP to a nearby MRT Station for the convenience of train passengers. Tanjong Pagar Railway Station Passenger Terminal building would be conserved given its historical significance and would be a centerpiece for the new proposed development on the site. In addition, the old Bukit Timah Railway Station building at Blackmore Drive may also be conserved.


Indonesian Man Arrested At Tanah Merah Checkpoint

A 49-year old Indonesian man was arrested at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal checkpoint for not giving accurate report of currencies. He had S$80,000 of cash with him.


MOE Replaced School Principal

THE Education Ministry (MOE) replaced the principal of Hai Sing Catholic School, Mr Charles Surin, and was placed under investigation for alleged irregularities. Madam Judina Chua, the former principal of Montfort Junior School, will be taking over the school. According to rumor, he did not followed proper procedure in hiring some of the external vendors for the school.


Tiger Orchid Seeded Along Orchard Road

A rare Tiger Orchid seedling, which belongs to 43 critically endangered, is being planted on a tree along Orchard Road by NParks. The planting of the Tiger Orchid marks the launch of the Orchid Conservation Fund by the Garden City Fund, which received S$10,000 from TANGS department store.


Tua Pek Kong temple Made Donation To Mosque

Loyang Tua Pek Kong Temple made a donation of $10,000 from the temple funds to Al-Istighfar Mosque in Pasir Ris. This is to help with the mosque's upgrading project. The upgrading, starting June 2010, will cost $1.5 million. The mosque will be repainted, and the bulk of the cost will go to the installation of new lift.


Andrea Bocelli Performed At Botanic Gardens

World-renowned tenor, Andrea Bocelli, performed in Singapore Botanic Gardens to an audience that included Singapore President S R Nathan. The Italian's performance was accompanied by Singapore's Philharmonic Orchestra and the Philharmonic Chamber Choir. Andrea Bocelli was also joined by special guests that included Australian pop singer Delta Goodrem, Slovenian soprano Sabina Cvilak and acclaimed flutist Andrea Griminelli.


Event Organiser Unhappy With MBS

Inter-Pacific Bar Association (IPBA) Conference organisers were unhappy with Marina Bay Sands (MBS). The conference was attended by more than 1,000 lawyers and judges from all over the world, was held from the 2nd to 5th of May 2010 in MBS. By the end of the conference, delegates had compiled a very long list of complaints about MBS ranging from minor irritations to major flaws.


Worker Died Inside Airport Departure Hall

A Bangladeshi worker died from injuries sustained after falling will carrying out air-conditioning works inside Changi Airport's Terminal 1 Departure Hall. Currently the terminal is under major makeover. The construction work has been suspended while the authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.


Rats Spotted Lottering Along Orchard Road

Colony of Rats were spotted along Singapore's Iconic Orchard Road. They were seen congregating just outside Orchard Plaza. Shop owners said the rats have been seen around the area for the past six months. There are some 50 rats which made their home in a patch of green shrubbery between Centrepoint and Orchard Plaza.


New Ethylene Cracker Complex Opened

The four-billion dollars Shell Eastern Petrochemicals Complex located in Jurong Island will enable the energy giant to up production level to better serve the Asian market. The new complex is officially opened by Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. In his speech, Mr Lee said the new complex is a key project that will bring a new source of feedstock to Jurong Island and that will help to spur a new wave of high-value downstream investments in the chemical industry.
