Changing of Guards At Istana

The Changing of Guards ceremony by the Singapore Armed Forces Military Police took place at 6pm this evening at the Istana main gate. The new guards will march towards Istana from Yen San Building. And at the gate of Istana the new guards with take over from the old guards. The Singapore Armed Forces band play military match tunes during the ceremony. The small crowd gathered to witness the event.
Lorong Chencharu Next Aquarium Fish Centre

Lorong Chencharu have been put aside for an aquarium fish export centre said the Singapore Land Authority (SLA). According to the SLA, four sites will be offered with a 10-year lease with an option to renew for another 10 years. Currently there are 16 business involved in the aquarium fish export operating out of Jalan Kayu. However the Jalan Kayu area, which is also SLA land, was ear-marked for new roads and other industrial development.
Guided Tour Of Old Cemetery

A group of English-speaking professionals with interest in traditional Chinese practices run a walking tour through Bukit Brown Cemetery off Lornie Road. The guided cemetery tour will walk through Singapore's oldest burial grounds from 2pm to 6pm two days before the start of Qingming festival. During Qingming festival, Chinese visit the tombs of their ancestors to make offerings and to spring clean them.
20 Loansharks Arrested

The Singapore Police Force launched a massive island-wide operation and 20 people were arrested today for their involvement in loansharking (aka Ah Long) activities. The 20 people, 15 men and 5 women were caught in the day long operation involving officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division. They raided premises in Ho Ching Road, Bangkit Road, Bedok Reservoir, Jurong West, Ang Mo Kio, Yishun and Sengkang.
Australian Woman Die After Liver Transplant

Ms Claire Murray, 25-year old Australian Women, who underwent a successful transplant at Mount Elizabeth Hospital last month. She received a part of her aunt's (Carolynn) liver. But died two weeks after the liver transplant blood clots started to form in her veins. Ms Murray, an unwed mother of two with a history of heroin addiction, became a controversy in her home country after her first liver transplant last September from a dead donor. That earlier liver transplant failed due to heroin use and substance abuse.
Capitol Up For Sale

The Government via Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) have put Stamford House, Capitol Centre, Capitol Building and Capitol Theatre are part of a huge, 1.43ha, land parcel that will go on sale. Whoever wins the tender can tear down Capitol Centre, an old three-storey complex with shops and in its place, a new development of up to 10 storeys can be built. But the other three 'historically and architecturally significant buildings' will have to be retained as it is and restored. A number of property developers agreed to put in a bid of at least $100 million for this commercial site.
Tom Jones Show Cancelled

Sir Tom Jones, 69-year-old British Singer and Performer, has cancelled his show at Resorts World Sentosa (RWS). Sir Jones' doctor has advised him against doing the April Fools Night Show as he could risk permanent damage to his vocal cord. Sir Tom Jones was recently diagnosed with acute laryngitis.
Fined For Showing Breasts

Three foreign performing artistes 35-year old Bernadeth Sonido, 28-year old Michelle Alejo Bacorro and 26-year old Lourdes Dela Cruz, 26 were fined $1,000 each for pulling up their blouses which then exposed their bare breasts and raw nipples on 5th June 5 2009 inside the Knights Pub & Karaoke along Duxton Road.

A Police raided two budget hotels at Kovan on April Fools Day 2010 and led to the arrest of 12 female Chinese nationals for vice-related crime. The suspects had earlier advertise their sexual services on the Internet.
