Kebun Baru Market Reopen

Kebun Baru Market & Food Centre was officially opened after a major facelift which took about seven-month to complete and at a cost $1.89 million. It was Kebun Baru Market major upgrading exercise since it was built in 1976. The upgraded market houses 111 stalls as compared to the 168 stalls previously. So it is now more spacious with larger stalls and wider passages in-between them.
Shopping Mall Observe Earth Hour

Ten popular shopping mall along Orchard, including new malls such as ION Orchard, 313@Orchard, Orchard Central, Wisma Atria and Mandarin Gallery, will switch off their facade and other non-essential lights for an hour at 8.30pm to 9:30pm. They are doing their bit to join the global efforts to mark Earth Hour 2010.
Men Caught Cheating The Casino

3 Men, between the ages of 46 and 64, were caught cheating in Resorts World Sentosa's casino. One of them had placed a bet at the roulette table after the result was known. But he left the table without collecting his bet and winnings when he realised his act had been spotted.
First Woman Charge With Incest

A 22-year-old women charged with an alleged to have committed incest willingly her bedroom in a Serangoon flat. The offence committed in April 2008 with her 46-year-old father. This is the first case of its kind in Singapore. She have willing allowing her father to have sex with her. If convicted, she faces a jail term of up to five years.
Battlestar Galactica Shut Down

Battlestar Galactica: Human vs. Cylon is a pair of steel, dueling roller coasters at Universal Studios Singapore. One half of the ride features an inverted roller coaster track in blue, and the other half features the traditional seated roller coaster track design in red. At 42.5 metres, Battlestar Galactica is the tallest dueling coaster in the world. Both coasters were closed due to a technical glitch in one of the rides, barely a week after it opened. The cause for the grounding of the Battlestar Galactica dueling coasters was revealed to be cracks found in the welded joint of the seat-post supports of the Human coaster car.
Bring Your Parents To School Day

Students studying in Damai Primary School in Bedok brought their parent to school. The school hosted more than 300 parents for their first 'Bring your parents to school day'. The parents, accompanied by their kids tried their hand at different classes, ranging from gymnastics to drama. This event is part of Damai's 25th anniversary celebrations, to foster better understanding of the lessons their children go through in class.
Heavy Rain Causes Along Expressway

A sudden surge of heavy rain this afternoon at about 3pm slowed down traffic due slight flooding long expressway around the island. In particular, the East Coast Parkway Expressway (ECP) near the the Marina Bay Sands construction was flooded. This is probably caused by a dip on the road as tje result of earthworks and compounded by blocked drains.
Cyclist Killed By Drunken Driver

Benjamin Mok, a 35-year-old freelance writer, died after being knock down from behind by a suspected drunken driver while cycling along along Clementi Road, in the direction of Upper Bukit Timah Road at around 9:30pm. The other cyclist, Bertram Leong, which was also hit by the same car is still in hospital. The suspect was arrested and is currently out on bail.
Popular Radio Station Move To SCAPE

Singapore Radio Station 98.7FM will move to *SCAPE youth hub, once its is ready by June 2010, in the heart of Orchard Road. The new studio will be a star attraction as it is riding on the young and trendy set who will gravitate to *SCAPE youth hub. *Scape will also be housing public library operated by Singapore's Natioanal Library Board (NLB).
Singapore Residential Price Index Launched

The new Singapore Residential Price Index (SRPI), developed by the National University of Singapore's (NUS) Institute of Real Estate Studies, was launched today. It uses a "basket based" approach covering new projects, condominiums and apartments (i.e., non-landed private residential properties). The aim of this index is to indicate the state of the residential property market in Singapore. The basket of properties tracked will be adjusted once every two years to reflect the changes in supply and the basket will be revised in December 2011 again. NUS wants the new index to complement the Urban Redevelopment Authority's quarterly data.
