RSAF E-2C Hawkeye Decommissioned

The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) has retired its fleet of E-2C Hawkeye, an Airborne Early Warning Aircraft. One of the E-2C made its last flight from Tengah Airbase to Paya Lebar Airbase. The aircraft will form part of RSAF Air Force Museum's static display which will be accessible to the public.
Grand Park Orchard Hotel Opened

After an $80 million makeover and rebranding exercise, Grand Park Orchard was officially opened for business. The hotel boasts a stylish look with an eight-storey-tall LED screen for advertising, herringbone-style panes of glass which are lit up with coloured lights at night and a four-storey retail podium at its base called Knightsbridge.
Man Jailed For Incomplete Tax Returns

Goh Ah Bah, a 52-year-old businessman, was found guilty of failing to declare his rental income in his income tax returns for Year of Assessment 2005. Ah Bah was sentenced to a week in jail and ordered to pay a penalty of $74,000 after pleading guilty to one charge. According to the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) said Ah Bah owns a number of properties including HDB shop-houses.
Solar-Powered Golf Course Buggy

Singapore launched its first solar-powered buggy feasibility trial. The trial is a collaboration between Sanyo, Singapore Polytechnic and the Marina Bay Golf Course. The buggy will ferrying golfers three rounds of the course each day. It is retrofitted with solar panels, at a cost of S$4,000, which will charge the lead acid batteries, resulting in electricity savings of S$129 of electricity a year. Hmm... so it will take slightly over 31 years to recover the cost of retrofitting it.

Old Custom House Marked As A Historic Site

The old Singapore Custom headquarters at Custom House has been marked as a historic site by the National Heritage Board (NHB). This old building along Maxwell Road is the 88th historic site in Singapore. The old Custom House was built at a cost of $313,000 in 1932 by Public Works Department (PWD). The Customs headquarters was located here from 1932 to 1989.

A balloting exercise was conducted to allow applicants of the newly-launched Esparina Residences to book their units as over 1,150 people applied for the 573-unit executive condominium. The EC site is only 5 minutes walk to Buangkok MRT station and has full condominium facilities.

The Central Narcotics Bureau of Singapore seized 4.68kg of heroin in an stink operation. The loot has an estimated street value of nearly a Million Singapore Dollars. The Drug Pusher, a 56-year-old man, was caught making a transaction along Kitchener Road.
Ex-Ferrari Driver Slammed Into The Slammer

First he totaled his brand new Ferrari by crashing it into a tree on a clear day. Then he got sideswipe by his colleague's Lambo. Now it seems that he had slammed himself directly into the slammer. Today 26 more charges were thrown at him for concealing, converting and transferring more than $1.8 million dollars of the loot. In addition, another charge for cheating a car finance company $350,000 with another man was pelted at him. Mr. Christopher Lim Chai Meng did all these for love of his exotic cars which included Ferrari and Porsche.
