Capitol Up For Sale

The Government via Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) have put Stamford House, Capitol Centre, Capitol Building and Capitol Theatre are part of a huge, 1.43ha, land parcel that will go on sale. Whoever wins the tender can tear down Capitol Centre, an old three-storey complex with shops and in its place, a new development of up to 10 storeys can be built. But the other three 'historically and architecturally significant buildings' will have to be retained as it is and restored. A number of property developers agreed to put in a bid of at least $100 million for this commercial site.
