Singaporean Hurt In Desert Storm

Saturday, 23rd July 2011

The tour bus with over-sized tires named Desert Storm, which was carrying 34 passengers mostly Singaporeans, rolled backwards and flipped down a sand dune in Lancelin, about 130km north of Perth. At least two of the Singaporean victims are in "critical but stable" condition. According to one of the victim, it was a very horrifying experience.

The sand dunes of Lancelin are popular with motorbike and four-wheel-driving enthusiasts. Desert Storm is touted the "world's largest and best performing 4WD tour bus". Their safety track record for the last 17 years is absolutely top of the line, they've never had an accident in the whole time they've been operating. However preliminary investigations into the accident has emerged that the driver and tour operator may have lacked the required licences and permits for his four-wheel drive vehicle. The 30 were a group on an incentive holiday which was hosted by Bridgestone Tyre Company.
