SIA's Golden Bird Takes Off

Singapore Airlines, or SIA, took to the air at dawn which heralded a new era in the Singapore's aviation history. The first SIA flight SQ108, a Boeing 737 aircraft left for Kuala Lumpur at 6.14am.
Singapore Youth Flying Club Established

The Singapore Youth Flying Club (SYFC) was established in December 1971 as the Junior Flying Club (JFC) by the then newly-formed Singapore Armed Forces (SAF). Its mission is to promote aviation among youths and inculcate in them a strong passion for flying. This is done through its aeromodelling courses for secondary school students and flying training for JC and Polytechnic students. Its vision is to be a world class aviation training centre for youths and it strives to develop them to take up a career in the Republic of Singapore Air Force.
Kallang River Dredge For Seaplane Usage
Wednesday, 18th December 1946
The Singapore Government started dredging Kallang River. This is to prepare Kallang Aerodrome for seaplane approach. During the next 3 months, seaplane landing will be diverted to Seletar Air Base.
RAF Replace Spitfire with Meteor Jets

RAF Tengah is upgraded to become the next new fighter base and it will be Southeast Asia first.
RAF Install Radar At Mount Faber

The radar device install at Mount Faber can pick up rain clouds over 100 miles away and watches the direction and speed at which the rain clouds travels. The installation was done by RAF (Royal Air Force) Telecommunication Research Establishment.
Pan-Am Resumed Flights To Manila
Monday, 29th April 1946
Pan-American Airways (Pan-Am) resumes flight between Singapore and Manila. Flights takes-off from Changi and for seaplanes from Kallang Aerodrome.
