RSAF 112 Squadron FOC

RSAF 112 Squadron declared the Full Operational Capability (FOC) status by Second Minister for Defence, RADM (NS) Teo Chee Hean. The 112 squadron operates the KC-135R air-to-air refueling jet tanker which is equipped with the Multi-Point Refueling System (MPRS) and the refueling boom capable of providing air-to-air refueling for all our fighter aircraft.


RSAF Open Training Facilities In France

The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) opened a new pilot training facilities with new 150 Squadron building and aircraft maintenance hangar in Cazaux (France). 49 fighter pilots have already honed their skills since 1998. RSAF training group setup a temporary training detachment comprising 100 personnel and 10 A-4SU Super Skyhawk aircraft. According to the Ministry of Defence, this is the first oversea Advanced Jet Training detachment.


RSAF jet in US crashes in training

RSAF Trainer Jet Crashed In Western Australia

A trainee pilot ejects from plane a Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) his jet trainer jet during a training flight in Western Australia. The plane, a SIAI-Marchetti S.211, encountered a technical problems. The pilot, based in Pearce (Western Australia), was not injured. According to Australian media (ABC news), it was reported that two Singapore SIAI-Marchetti S.211 collided at RAAF Pearce in the afternoon.


Twenty More F-16D For RSAF

The Singapore Government revealed that it was ordering another twenty F-16D Block 52 under Peace Carvin IV (PC4). The new F-16 will be equipped with the extended spine to accommodate an extensive ECM suite. Deliveries of the aircraft will commence at the end of 2003. The aircraft are powered by the Pratt & Whitney F100-229 engine. All aircraft were received before the end of 2004.


RSAF Air Grading Centre Moved To Tamworth

Earlier in 1999, the RSAF signed a contract with British Aerospace(BAe) Flight Training Australia, allowing the company to take over initial screening and testing of potential RSAF pilots. The new 6 weeks Air Grading Course (AGC) is held at Tamworth in New South Wales, Australia using CT-4B Airtourers. The detachment in Tamworth, Australia, tests RSAF pilots at the Air Grading Centre. This is vital in the selection process as only candidates who show good air sense will be shortlisted for further flying training at RSAF Flying Training School in Pearce (Western Australia).


RSAF Helicopter Detachment in Oakey Opened

Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence, Dr Tony Tan, and Australia's Defence Minister, Mr John Moore, jointly officiated at the opening ceremony of the Republic of Singapore Air Force's (RSAF) Helicopter Detachment in Australia this afternoon, 20 Aug 99. The detachment is based at the Australian Army Aviation Centre (AAAC) in Oakey, Queensland. The projected started in 1997.


RSAF F-16 USA Detachment

In 1998, the governments of the United States and Singapore signed an agreement laying the foundation of the Peace Carvin III (PC Three) program. As a Foreign Military Sales training program for the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF), Peace Carvin III was designed for the continued training of RSAF in rapid deployment and tactical employment of the block 52 F-16 C/D throughout a wide spectrum of missions including air to- air, joint maritime and precision air-to-ground weapons delivery.


RSAF 150 Squadron Moved To France

The RSAF A-4SU Skyhawks were shipped to southwest France at Cazaux Air Base. The RSAF 150 Squadron was re-established here for advance training of RSAF pilots. The French site was selected because of available practice bombing ranges and airspace over the North Atlantic for ACM training, as well as opportunity for electronic warfare technique practice.


RSAF Setup Oakey Detachment In Australia

RSAF's Super Puma detachment in Australia inaugurated on 1 September 1998. Based in the Army Aviation Centre in Oakey, Queensland, the detachment is the second such arrangement between the two countries. The RSAF's Flying Training School at the Royal Australian Air Force Base Pearce, Western Australia, was the first. The detachment was made possible by the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by the defence ministers of Singapore and Australia in October 1996.
