Government To Build More Executive Condos

The Singapore Government announced that they will build more Executive Condominiums (ECs) to meet the housing needs of what is described as the "sandwiched group". The so-called sandwiched group are those family that are earning betwen S$8,000 to S$10,000 per month. The Government also promised that they will give the S$30,000 housing grant for first time home owners. For the year 2010, ECs will make up 10 per cent of about 12,000 new flats to be built by HDB.
Over Two Thousand participated in 10th Singapore Biathlon

A new record for the most number of people taking part has been set in the 10th Singapore Biathlon. Particpants had to swim 1.5 kilometres and run 10 kilometres along East Coast Park. Singapore's National Triathlete Mr. Mok Ying Ren won the Men's Open Category in 55 minutes 38 seconds. The Saturday morning event was the 10th to be held since it started in 2001. SAFRA was the organiser of this annual event.
PayPal Account Hacker Jailed

A 31 year-old man hacked into his previous employer's PayPal account and cleaned out about S$60,000. Lee Kai Peng, also known as Eddie by his friends, was jailed for 24 months as he admitted to accessing into Success Resources's PayPal account on four occasions between 19 and 20 June 2008.

Ex-NTUC Club Supervisor Jailed

Miss Kwok Hong Leng, a former Accounts Supervisor of NTUC Club branch in Choa Chu Kang Centre, has been sent to 2 years jail for criminal breach of trust. Between 2006 and 2008, she would periodically dip her hand into a jackpot sales kitty and took between S$1,000 and S$7,000. In all, she misappropriated almost S$160,000.
Rapist got thrown behind bars for 25 years

27-year-old Rapist pleaded guilty to four charges, for aggravated rape of a 48-year-old woman and housebreaking. He was given a jail term of 25 years and will also be caned 24 strokes. He had broken into the flat of his victim in the early hours of 4 April 4 2009, using a stolen key.
Company Director Jailed for sex with minor

A director of a Singapore Company (Far Eastern Services Pte Ltd) was jailed one and half year for having sex 14 year old female student. Sheik Esmail Raja Abdeen, 28 years old, was also fined $2,000 for having four indecent video clips on his cell phone. Mr Abdeen pick up the girl in his car at the Kembangan MRT station at 4pm on 23 October 2008.
Pasir Ris Rock tower opens

Rock climbing enthusiasts can now make use of the new climbing installation at the People's Association (PA) Water-Venture adventure sports centre in Pasir Ris. Also known as the Community Tower, it cost $450,000 to build with about $200,000 being subsidised by the Singapore Totalisator Board. The tower was officially opened by Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean yesterday.

Locally aclaimed movie director and Cultural Medallion recipient, Jack Neo, admitted that he had sex with a 20-year-old starlet (Miss Chong) inside his Toyota Alphard with curtains and very comfortable swivel car seats. This act in 2008 kicked started the 2-year-old affair with starlet which had a minor role in his movie "Money No Enough 2" where she acted as a Nurse. Mr. Neo has been married for 27 years and has four children with his 46-year-old wife. The affair was exposed when the mistress showed up at his 3-storey semi-detached home in Pasir Ris.
Retired CEO of Shell gets Honorary Citizenship

Singapore Government has conferred Jeroen van der Veer, age 63, the Honorary Citizen Award. President S R Nathan presented Mr Van der Veer. The award is the highest form of recognition bestowed by the Singapore government for outstanding contributions by individuals to the country's growth and development. Jeroen van der Veer retired chief executive of Royal Dutch Shell was instrumental in setting up Shell Eastern Petrochemicals Complex, its largest downstream investment in Asia.
