Sri Mariamman Temple Upgraded
Sunday, 4th April 2010
The Sri Mariamman Temple, built in 1827, completed its year long $3 million project to upgrade its look and facilities. Craftmen from India worked all year to restore the temple's 500 decorative statues and wall murals. Its roof was also waterproofed, and its administrative offices expanded. The Sri Mariamman Temple held a consecration ceremony to mark the occasion. Following the ceremony, it will hold a 48-day celebratory festival featuring prominent Indian performers and cultural exhibitions. The Sri Mariamman Temple's last major renovation was in 1996.
