Hotel 81 Prostitution Link

41-year-old Chu Poh Yong, licensee of Hotel 81, was charged with five counts of allowing his rooms to be used for prostitution activities. It was believed that he have committed the offences at two of its branches, Hotel 81 Cosy at Jiak Chuan Road in the Chinatown area and Hotel 81 Mayo at Jalan Besar, between 27 April and 19 June 2010.

A licensee who knowingly allows sex workers to ply their trade within his property breaches the Hotels Licensing Regulations. Offender could be fined up to S$1,000. For a second or subsequent conviction, the licensee could be fined the maximum S$2,000. The hotel's certificates of registration may be cancelled or suspended.
