Monday, 21st June 1937

Miss Amelia Earhart, 40-year-old American aviation pioneer, and her navigator Mr Fred Noonan left at 6:15am for Bandung (Java, Indonesia) from Kallang Airport in her plane named "Electra" to continue their 1937 Round The World Flight.

They departed Oakland (California, USA) on 21 May 1937 and after numerous stops in South America, Africa, the Indian subcontinent and before arriving at Singapore on the 20 June 1937 from Bangkok (Siam, Thailand).

Update: Amelia and Fred did not complete their journey, as they were lost somewhere over the Pacific Ocean on 2 July 1937. Their plane ran out of fuel and crashed. The US Navy mounted a massive search operation soon after, but sadly the wreckage was never found.
