The president of Zimbabwe, Mr Robert Mugabe, was in Singapore to undergo secret tests for prostate cancer. According to certain sources, the tests were being conducted by a Malaysian urologist at Mount Elizabeth Hospital and Paragon Shopping Center. He was sighted by the public as he was doing his shopping at Ngee Ann City. The South-east Asia region has become a favourite destination for the president and his family as they were banned from Europe and America. Mugabe has ruled Zimbabwe since independence in 1980 and has been accused of violence against his opponents and undermining the cabinet and parliament. According to rumors, Mr Mugabe's assets were transferred to the region after Western sanctions were imposed.
