This is a significant milestone in the development of the air force's capabilities. Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Teo Chee Hean said in the inauguration ceremony that the F-15SGs will also play a very important role in the Singapore Armed Forces overall operations, including its ability to 'deal decisively' with future threats.
The F-15 officially started operating on home soil on this afternoon, about five years after they were bought. Selected officers and specialists from the squadron had been training in the United States since May 2009 on how to maintain the twin-seater jets, which are considered one of the top multi-role fighter planes in the world.
