RSAF UAV Command Inaugurated

Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean officiated at a parade to inaugurate the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Command (RSAF UAV Command), at Murai Camp.
At the inauguration parade, Mr Teo also announced a new unmanned system, the Hermes 450 (H-450). The H-450 UAV is equipped with improved avionics and communication systems that will enhance the SAF's battlefield surveillance capability. The H-450 will complement the current IAI Searcher UAV that is operated by the SAF.

The Hermes 450 is built by the Israeli company Elbit/Silver Arrow and has a price tag of US$2 million per UAV. It considered a medium size UAV supplying real time intelligence data to ground forces. It has a length of about 6 Meter, wingspan 10 Meter and weight 450 kg. The Hermes 450 has operational costs of about US$1,350 per flight.
