CNB Director Suspended

Director of the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) Mr Ng Boon Gay, age 45, was removed from his position following allegations of “serious personal misconduct”. Boon Gay was appointed as Director CNB on 18 February 2011. He joined the Singapore Police Force (SPF) in 1991 as a Local Merit Scholar with First Class Honours in Mathematics and was appointed Assistant Superintendent of Police the following year.

Mr. Ng Boon Gay was earlier arrested under the Prevention of Corruption Act (PCA). The case is believed to be "linked to money and women". Under PCA, he was detained for 48 hours and a search was made on him and premises associated with him. After that, he was released on bailed and was allowed to travel abroad.

In recognition of his accomplishments and contributions, the Faculty of Science of National University of Singapore (NUS) honours him with the Outstanding Alumni Award 2009 with the quote "You cannot choose how you die but you can choose how you live. So we'd better live life to the fullest."
