An executive condominium (EC) penthouse from HDB (Housing Development Board) public housing project was sold at a record price of S$2.05 million. A spokesman for the CityLife Tampines housing project said the sale was made within the second hour after the show flat was opened for public viewing. The unit with a huge roof top deck and about 2,800 sq ft of living space was sold to a young twenty something couple.

Singapore table-tennis stars Li Jiawei called it a day and retiring back to home in Beijing, China. China-born Li became a Singapore citizen at the age of 18 years under the Foreign Sports Talent Scheme and in her hay days was ranked as high as world number three. Over the years, she has collected nearly $1.5 million in performance incentives from Singapore Government via Singapore Table Tennis Association (STTA) located in Toa Payoh Stadium.

Carrefour shut down all of its operations in Singapore which comprise two outlets at Suntec City and Plaza Singapura, by end of 2012. Dairy Farm’s hypermarket arm, Giant, will replace Carrefour as anchor grocer, taking a 60,000 sq ft shop space in a separate location at Suntec City.

MP is also Punggol East MP, Member of Parliament, said he was resigning to avoid "further embarrassment" to PAP for "improper relationship" with a People's Association (PA) staff member in his constituency. A short jail term for Pastor Steven Yang Suan Piau of Eternal Life Baptist Church, after he we found guilty of lying and provide misleading information to an immigration officer at Woodlands Checkpoint. Pastor Yang's lawyer questioned if the Judge had placed previous sentencing precedents "on an altar and obsessively worshipped them?" He also drew similarities to the recent case of Dr Woffles Wu, a high profiled plastic surgeon, who was fined S$1,000 for giving false information to the police about his speeding offences.

City Harvest Church (CHC) founder Kong Hee and five other CHC members were charged in court for alleged misuse of church funds. Kong, 47, faced three charges for committing criminal breach of trust as an agent of CHC and for allegedly misappropriating about $24 million from CHC's building funds for unauthorised use. His right hand man, Tan Ye Peng, 39, faced ten charges. A church board member, John Lam Leng Hung, 44, faced three charges. The church finance manager Sharon Tan Shao Yuen, 37 faced seven charges. Serina Wee, 35, chruch ex-finance chief and Chew Eng Han, 52, church ex-investment manager faces ten charges each. Each charge carries the maximum punishment of life imprisonment and a fine. The court has allowed Kong Hee to travel overseas for pastoral purposes. His bail was set at S$1 million.

Silver River Furniture, a Singapore Furniture Retailer, was fined S$4,000 on four counts of not complying with GST regulations on price displays. The Internal Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) found two of Silver River Furniture's advertisements in a local English daily in early 2012 with small print stating "all prices exclude delivery and GST".

Singapore may open the third runway at Changi Airport for civil aviation use. The runway, Changi Air Base East, is currently used by the military only. More airport terminals may be built on the 1,000-hectare piece of land in Changi.
