New HDB Flats Over Subscribed
Wednesday, 4th April 2012
There are over 26,000 applications for 8,000 new HDB Build-To-Order (BTO) flats. Many of the applicants made use of the priority schemes which enable married children and parents to stay close to each other. There is one in three chance that these applicants would get the dream homes. Flats built under the BTO would normally be completed in 3 years. All BTO projects are designed by Surbana Corporation, previously known as HDB Corporation, who take part in township planning and residential development. A standard BTO apartment would come with semi-solid timber doors for all rooms and glazed ceramic tiles for living/dining area. A premium BTO apartment would come with additional semi-solid timber doors for bathrooms, polished porcelain tiles for living/dining area & timber-strip for bedrooms.

Housing Board flats in the Build-To-Order (BTO) scheme are targeted primarily at households buying their first HDB flat as it has a considerable long waiting time. Time taken from application to procession would take as long as five years.
