First Local Commander Of Fighter Squadron

Capt. Michael Teo Eng Cheong, 27, was named Squadron commander of the Singapore Armed Forces No. 140 Squadron. Captain Teo has been appointed the first local Squadron Commander of a fully operational Hunter Squadron and will be leading an all Singaporean Team. Capt. Teo, who was among the first batch of fighter pilots to join the air force.
Capt Teo was a former student of St. Patrick Secondary School and received his "Wings" after completing is basic flying training in RAF Leeming, and his advanced jet training at RAF Valley and later to RAF Chivener for weapons and tachical training. On his return, he was posted to Tengah Air Base for use operational conversion training under the supervision of RAF officers. Teo was promoted to rank of captain in June 1973.
