Heron To Replace Searcher UAVs

RSAF is replacing all its IAI Searcher Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), which have been in use since 1994, with the more advanced IAI Heron-1 UAV. A key feature of the new Heron UAV is its fully automatic take-off and landing capability.

The IAI Heron (Machatz-1) is a Medium-altitude long-endurance unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) developed by the Malat (UAV) division of Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI). It is capable of Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) operations of more than 24 hours duration at up to 35,000 feet.
