Robert Mugabe In Singapore Again

President of Zimbabwe, Mr. Robert Mugabe, arrived in Singapore from Harare for medical treatment. Mugabe was in Singapore for a post-operative check after an operation on one of his eyes. Mugabe's health remains a closely guarded secret. The president is reportedly suffering health setbacks in his recovery after what had been initially billed as a minor medical procedure in Singapore last month. Mugabe was set to return to Zimbabwe on February 20, the day before his 87th birthday.
Mini City On NTU Campus

Nanyang Technological University (NTU) unveiled a masterplan to transform its campus in Jurong into a mini city over the next 15 years. Electric buses and electric bikes will ply the campus roads. There will also be pedestrian walkways criss-crossing through a network of ponds and parks. A light rail system will be constructed. The in centre of the campus, there will be a snaking structure called the Campus Centre. The Campus Centre would feature cafes, shops, a pub and a cinema, all located near academic and residential facilities.
Bollywood Veggies Farm's Boss In Court

Mrs Ivy Singh-Lim, Boss of Bollywood Veggies, appeared in court on charges relating to her farm along Neo Tiew Road in Kranji. She was accused of failing to engage a professional engineer to conduct the inspection of her farm. The Building and Construction Authority (BCA) had sent numerous notices to her farm since April 2008. Her lawyer argued for the charges to be dropped, claiming the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) was singling Bollywood Veggies out for prosecution while other farms there were illegally operating and occupying their premises without the proper permits. Her farm was leased from the government's Singapore Land Authority (SLA) for 20 years.
Ex-Ferrari Driver Slammed Into The Slammer

First he totaled his brand new Ferrari by crashing it into a tree on a clear day. Then he got sideswipe by his colleague's Lambo. Now it seems that he had slammed himself directly into the slammer. Today 26 more charges were thrown at him for concealing, converting and transferring more than $1.8 million dollars of the loot. In addition, another charge for cheating a car finance company $350,000 with another man was pelted at him. Mr. Christopher Lim Chai Meng did all these for love of his exotic cars which included Ferrari and Porsche.
Malaysia Prime Minister Visit Singapore

Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak made a two-day working visit to Singapore. Mr Najib was accompanied by Foreign Minister Anifah Aman and Menteri Besar of Johor Abdul Ghani Othman. During the meeting, Prime Minister Najib and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong settled a land swap agreement for four land parcels in Marina South and two land parcels in the Ophir-Rochor area. And put the issue of development charges payable on the three parcels of Malaysian land in Tanjong Pagar, Kranji and Woodlands for the Permanent Court of Arbitration to settle. This breaking the 20-year-old deadlock on the 1990 POA.
Jailed For Asking Others To Take Rap

A 51-year-old man, Charlie Lim Chau Lee, was jailed for six months for asking another person to take the rap (blame) for his traffic offence. Charlie was caught speeding by a speed trap camera along Lornie Road at 4pm on 18 August 2008. He received a summons from the Traffic Police, informing him of a fine of S$150 and six demerit points. Charlie Lim then approached 39-year-old woman, Lim Ah Hwa, to take the blame.
City Harvest Church Founder Probed

18 individuals linked to the City Harvest Church (CHC), including church founder Pastor Kong Hee and his wife, Sun Ho are called up by the Office of the Commissioner of Charities (COC) and the Commercial Affairs Department (CAD) of the Singapore Police. They are to assist in investigations, after receiving complaints alleging the misuse of church funds.
Singapore Residential Price Index Launched

The new Singapore Residential Price Index (SRPI), developed by the National University of Singapore's (NUS) Institute of Real Estate Studies, was launched today. It uses a "basket based" approach covering new projects, condominiums and apartments (i.e., non-landed private residential properties). The aim of this index is to indicate the state of the residential property market in Singapore. The basket of properties tracked will be adjusted once every two years to reflect the changes in supply and the basket will be revised in December 2011 again. NUS wants the new index to complement the Urban Redevelopment Authority's quarterly data.

Ng Teng Fong (1928 - 2010) was Singapore's 11 Billion Dollars Man. The late Teng Fong owns the development companies Far East Organization in Singapore and Sino Group in Hong Kong. His company also controls Singapore-listed food and drinks maker Yeo Hiap Seng (Yeo's). At the time of his death, Sino Group was one of Hong Kong's largest real estate developers, and Far East Organization remained one of the largest landholders in Singapore. Far East Organization also owns The Fullerton Singapore and numerous other landmark hotels and other properties. Wake was held at his mansion, his home for the last 40 years, at Watten Estate Road and he was buried in Chua Chu Kang Christian Cemetery.
Expensive Ferrari F430 Trashed

A chilli red Ferrari costed S$720,000 crash along Nicoll Highway early morning. The very lucky 36-year-old driver, Mr. Chris Lim Chai Meng walks away almost unharmed. An SCDF spokesman said Lim had only minor cuts on his arms and forehead. The badly mangled Ferrari F430, (had a highly auspicious registration number SJV 82D) had mounted the kerb, hit a guardrail, flipped a couple of times and then a tree. According to insurance record, the SGD $720,000 car was scrapped and sold for $10,800.
