RSS Archer Submarine Arrived Home

Singapore's Navy received a boost with the return of RSS Archer Submarine. Since 2009. RSS Archer have been undergoing upgrade and tropicalised for warm waters around Singapore in Sweden. Ir RSS Archer crew has also been receiving training since 2007 to obtained the skills required to operate and maintain submarines.
Navy Launches RSS Swordsman Submarine

Republic of Singapore Navy’s (RSN) launched its second Archer-class submarine, RSS Swordsman, at the Kockums Shipyard in Karlskrona, Sweden. RSS Swordsman is one of two ex-Vaastergotland-class submarines acquired by Singapore in 2005. The other, RSS Archer, was launched in 2009. The two vessels have been retrofitted with the latest state-of-the-art Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) system, which allows them to last six weeks underwater. The submarines will be based at Changi Naval Base (CNB).
Singapore Navy Tests Boeing Unmanned System

Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) has successfully conducted a ship-based trial of the Boeing ScanEagle, a long-endurance, fully autonomous unmanned aircraft system (UAS), launching and recovering the unmanned air vehicle from a landing ship tank vessel and a frigate. ScanEagle was launched and recovered from the ships' helicopter decks, flying day missions using an electro-optical camera payload and night missions using an infrared camera payload. During the flights, the Boeing ScanEagle successfully demonstrated sea-based launch and recovery capabilities and the ease with which the physical ground support equipment and control hardware can be integrated on board.
RSS Formidable was launched

RSS Formidable was launched in France and was fully commissioned on 5 May 2007. In March 2000, the Singapore Ministry of Defence awarded the contract to DCNS, Direction des Constructions Navales Services is a naval defence company based in France, for the design and construction of six frigates. Construction of the Formidable began in late 2002, when the keel was laid down in Lorient on November 2002. Under the arrangement, DCNS was to design and build the first frigate in its Lorient yard in France while the remaining five frigates were to be built locally by Singapore Technologies (ST) Marine at its Benoi yard in Singapore.
Opening of Changi Naval Base

The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) took a step towards achieving world-class status when its Changi Naval Base was opened by then Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong. Also present were the Minister of Defence, Admiral Teo Chee Hean. This ceremony marked the culmination of more than a decade of planning and construction of a naval base that is among the most sophisticated in this region. The other two Naval Bases are located at Pulau Brani and Tuas.
Second Singapore Submarine Launched

The RSS Conqueror, a Sjoormen-class submarine (small coastal submarine), is the one of the four submarines acquired by the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN). The RSS Conqueror was the first of four former Swedish navy submarines acquired and refitted for service refurbished for use in a tropical climate.
Opening of Tuas Naval Base

The Tuas Naval Base (TNB) was official opened by Prime Minister (PM), Mr Goh Chok Tong. This is the Republic of Singapore Navy's second base. The first Naval Base at Palau Brani was opened in 1974.
Opening of Pulau Brani Naval Base

Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew declared open the Singapore Maritime Command Naval Base on Pulau Brani. Singapore Maritime Command was-later renamed the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN). RSS Laburnum, RSS Panglima and RSS Bedok came under SNVF's charge and the prefix RSS (Republic of Singapore Ship) was also used for the first time.
