Singapore Navy Tests Boeing Unmanned System

Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) has successfully conducted a ship-based trial of the Boeing ScanEagle, a long-endurance, fully autonomous unmanned aircraft system (UAS), launching and recovering the unmanned air vehicle from a landing ship tank vessel and a frigate. ScanEagle was launched and recovered from the ships' helicopter decks, flying day missions using an electro-optical camera payload and night missions using an infrared camera payload. During the flights, the Boeing ScanEagle successfully demonstrated sea-based launch and recovery capabilities and the ease with which the physical ground support equipment and control hardware can be integrated on board.
HSBC Women's Champions 2009

The HSBC Women's Champions 2009 golf tournament was held at Tanah Merah Country Club. The HSBC Women's Champions is a golf tournament for professional female golfers that is part of the LPGA Tour. The Winner for the 2009 game was Jiyai Shin of South Korea. She took home USD300,000.
RSAF Received New Airborne Early Warning Aircraft

The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) received its first of the four Gulfstream 550 Airborne Early Warning (G550-AEW) aircraft at Tengah Air Base this evening. Chief of Air Force, Major-General Ng Chee Khern, officiated at the homecoming ceremony. The RSAF has acquired a total of four G550-AEW aircraft to replace its ageing E-2C Hawkeye aircraft which have served the Air Force well for more than 20 years. Equipped with a sophisticated mission suite that includes an Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar, the G550-AEW aircraft is able to detect, identify and track aerial targets. The G550-AEW aircraft has a longer detection range (200 nautical miles) than the E-2C Hawkeye.
MRT's Boon Lay extension started operation

The Boon Lay extension of the Mass Rapid Transit system start operating the 3.8-kilometre stretch along the East-West Line will consist of two stations - Pioneer and Joo Koon. This section will benefit Jurong West residents as well as those working in the Jurong Industrial estate. Their travelling time is expected to be cut by up to 15 minutes. The extension will also give commuters direct access to the MRT system.
Sunshine Empire's Owner Charged

Jackie Hoo Choon Cheat, a director of Sunshine Empire Pte Ltd, and James Phang Wah were charged under Section 340 of the Companies Act, 1 charge of failure to maintain proper accounting records of Sunshine Empire under Section 199 of the Companies Act and 8 charges of criminal breach of trust as an agent of Sunshine Empire under Section 409 of the Penal Code. Sunshine Empire is a defunct company, with all assets frozen by the Singapore Court. It was set up in 2006 as a Multi Level Marketing (MLM) company, based in Singapore. Investigation by Singapore's Commercial Affairs Department (CAD) had was found that Sunshine Empire generated a revenue of $189 million in just over a year. Sunshine Empire is a Pyramid scheme, with victims in East Asian Countries.
No smoking at hotel lobbies and carparks

The nationwide smoking ban is extended to hotel lobbies and carparks, among other areas. It will include non-air-conditioned offices, lift lobbies, multi-storey carparks and anywhere within five metres of the entrances and exits of buildings. The ban, part of a drive to stamp out smoking that began nearly four decades ago. Singapore is among the close to 150 countries that have signed the WHO's Framework Convention on Tobacco Control. The Republic already meets its mandatory requirements, including a ban on tobacco advertising and health warnings on cigarettes.
