CNB Director Suspended

Director of the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) Mr Ng Boon Gay, age 45, was removed from his position following allegations of “serious personal misconduct”. Boon Gay was appointed as Director CNB on 18 February 2011. He joined the Singapore Police Force (SPF) in 1991 as a Local Merit Scholar with First Class Honours in Mathematics and was appointed Assistant Superintendent of Police the following year.

Man jailed a year for stealing S$32 From Mosque

Noraizam Abdullah, 40-year-old, admitted to stealing stealing S$32 from a donation box in a mosque to buy food for his family. He took the donation box at the entrance of the Darussalam Mosque at Commonwealth Avenue West. Noraizam, who has a string of previous theft offences, pleaded for leniency. The court also heard that Noraizam, who has a handicapped mother, stole the money to feed his family. He was sentenced to one year in jail.

Police Officer Shot At VivoCity

An auxiliary police officer from Cisco shot himself inside a toilet cubicle on the first floor of Vivocity. It is also possible this is a case of suicide, as there are no apparent signs of foul play, and the toilet cubicle was locked from the inside. At the time of the shooting, he was attached to Citibank branch in Vivicity.

Business Owner Jailed For GST Fraud

Tan Kim Teck, a 44-year old self-made businessman, was jailed for eight months. He was earlier charged with tax evasion and failing to keep proper business and accounting records. According to courts document, Mr Tan burnt his business records to destroy evidence of fraud. Tan Kim Teck was also ordered to pay a restitution (fine) of $413,880. He had filed documents to deceive by false appearance to the Inland Revenue Authority (IRAS) into undercharging him S$137,960 in tax between 2000 and 2007.

Ex-SLA Staff Jailed

The High Court has sentenced two former Singapore Land Authority (SLA) employees for dipping their hands into SLA Coffer. They "made-off" with over S$12 Millions. Koh Seah Wee, aged 41, an SLA deputy director was sentenced to 22 years imprisonment for money laundering and cheating his ex-employer. Koh's subordinate cum accomplice, Christopher Lim Chai Meng, aged 38, was sentenced to 15 years in jail.

CEO Jailed For Cooking The Books

The 52-year-old Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of JEL Corporation (Holdings) Limited, a public listed company, was sentenced to 12 months jail and fined S$280,000 for his creativity. Mr Eric Tan Boon Yong, who founded the firm, has pleaded guilty to conspired with two of his colleagues to falsify (cook) the company's accounts (books) and inflated its profits by more than S$4.2 million.

Man Jailed For Incomplete Tax Returns

Goh Ah Bah, a 52-year-old businessman, was found guilty of failing to declare his rental income in his income tax returns for Year of Assessment 2005. Ah Bah was sentenced to a week in jail and ordered to pay a penalty of $74,000 after pleading guilty to one charge. According to the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) said Ah Bah owns a number of properties including HDB shop-houses.

Drug Pusher Caught

The Central Narcotics Bureau of Singapore seized 4.68kg of heroin in an stink operation. The loot has an estimated street value of nearly a Million Singapore Dollars. The Drug Pusher, a 56-year-old man, was caught making a transaction along Kitchener Road.

Ex-Ferrari Driver Slammed Into The Slammer

First he totaled his brand new Ferrari by crashing it into a tree on a clear day. Then he got sideswipe by his colleague's Lambo. Now it seems that he had slammed himself directly into the slammer. Today 26 more charges were thrown at him for concealing, converting and transferring more than $1.8 million dollars of the loot. In addition, another charge for cheating a car finance company $350,000 with another man was pelted at him. Mr. Christopher Lim Chai Meng did all these for love of his exotic cars which included Ferrari and Porsche.

Sixteen Year-Old Charged For Theft In School

A 16-year-old student from Seng Kang Secondary School, Luke Sebastian, was charge with stealing $30 and a mobile phone worth about $100. According to the police, at about 2pm on 27 September 2010 the school reported of the theft. The police then rounded up seven Seng Kang Secondary School boys for investigation.
