Ferrari Crashed Into Taxi

A two million dollars red Ferrari 599 GTO, one of Ferrari 's fastest-ever road car, beat the Red Light at Rochor Road and Victoria Street Junction and crashed into a passing blue Comfort Hyundai Sonata Taxi. The impact was so great that parts from both cars, including the engine block of the taxi, was scattered all over the road. The 4.15am accident killed the male driver, a wealthy 30-year old Mainland Chinese National from China's Sichuan Province, the 50-year old local taxi driver and a 40-year old female Japanese passenger riding the taxi. Two other people were injured.
Boating Accident Claimed Two Lives

Two boats collided in waters off Penjuru Terminal at the mouth of Jurong River. After the collision, a pleasure craft carrying 10 men, sunk killing two men. These men were all on a weekend fishing trip to southern islands of Singapore.
Apache Helicopter Crash Landed

A Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF 120 Squadron) Apache AH-64 helicopter from Sembawang Air Base made an emergency landing in an open field next to Seagate Woodlands Building. According to the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF), the helicopter was on a routine flight when it encountered engine problems and the two pilots chose an open field to crash land it.
Man Killed By A Tree

A 32-year old man was killed when a tree fell and crushed the car he was driving at the junction of Thomson Hills Drive and Yio Chu Kang Road. The tree was probably uprooted by a combination of a strong winds and heavy rains. According to onlooker, the car was also badly crushed and rescuers took about half and hour to remove the victim's body with hydraulic spreader-cutters. It took another 3-hours to cut the tree up and have it removed.
Singapore Airlines SQ006 Crashed

At 15:17 UTC, 23:17 Taipei local time, Singapore Airlines Boeing 747 took off from the wrong runway in Taipei during a typhoon, destroying the aircraft and killing 83 of the 179 occupants. Singapore Airlines Flight 006 (SIA SQ6) was a scheduled flight from Singapore Changi Airport to Los Angeles International Airport via Chiang Kai-Shek Airport (now Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport) in Taiwan. SQ006 was the first fatal crash of a Singapore Airlines aircraft. The Boeing 747-400 aircraft, registration 9V-SPK, was delivered to Singapore Airlines on 21 January 1997.
SilkAir Flight MI185 Crashed

SilkAir Flight MI185, a Boeing 737, was on a scheduled passenger flight from Jakarta, Indonesia to Singapore. MI185 crashed after abruptly plunging into the Musi River from its 35,000 feet cruise altitude, killing all 104 people on board, 97 passengers and 7 crew. The cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder stopped recording, at different times and for no apparent reason, minutes before the aircraft departed level flight and entered a steep vertical dive. The Boeing 737 Aircraft operating as Flight MI 185 was the newest in SilkAir's fleet, delivered to the airline ten months prior to the crash. The U.S. NTSB concluded that the crash resulted from an intentional act by a pilot, most likely the captain.
Super Puma Crash Near Safti

A Republic of Singapore Air Force Super Puma helicopter crashed into a reservoir near the Safti training area, killing both pilots on board. A third crewman was rescued and flown to Singapore General Hospital.
RSAF Helicopter Crashed In Brunei

An RSAF helicopter with eight serviceman had crashed in bad weather. Five servicemen died. They are Lieutenant Ng Soon Hup, Lieutenant Seow Toh Guan, Lieutenant Wee Tong Leong, Staff Sergeant Goh Kim Loong and Corporal Ramiya Mohan. It was flying from Lakium Camp to Brunei International Airport at Bandar Seri Begawan when the accident happened. Lakium Camp is m the Temburong district and is 26 km south-east of the Brunei capital.
RSAF Jet Fighter Crashed In Sydney

A Singapore Air Force Skyhawk jet fighter crashed today after its engine failed during gunnery practice near Newcastle, in New South Wales, but the pilot escaped unhurt, an Australian Air Force spokesman said. The pilot, Lieutenant Jaspal Singh 23, ejected from the plane.
The Spyros disaster

An explosion occurred in the engine room of the Greek tanker Spyros, at Jurong shipyard. The SAF was asked to assist in evacuating the victims to the hospitals. Immediately, a task force of servicemen, ambulances and RSAF helicopters was mobilised to assist in the casualty evacuation operations. Apart from ferrying the injured by ambulances, the SAF also mobilised RSAF helicopters to ferry victims in critical condition to the Singapore General Hospital. The Spyros disaster which claimed the lives of 80 people and injured many others.
