General Palomeros Honoured

The French Air Force Chief of Staff, General Jean-Paul Palomeros, has been conferred Singapore's prestigious Meritorious Service Medal in recognition of his efforts in forging ties between the French Air Force (FAF) and the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF). Since 2002, FAF has provided support for the RSAF's Advanced Jet Training (AJT) at Cazaux Air Base in France.
Polytechnic Students Can Fly

Temasek Polytechnic has tied up with the Singapore Youth Flying Club (SYFC) to offer flying lessons to students. The scheme will allowed 30 of 150 students currently taking the Aviation Management & Services course an opportunity to to fly the Diamond Trainer and to obtain a PPL (Private Pilot License). Assessment criteria for will be stringent - first is pass the psychometric test (also known as compass test) held by the Republic of Singapore Air Force, then an interview with the selection board at SYFC and then must pass a full medical test at ST Aeromedical Centre.
Engine Failure Caused Apache To Crash Land

The Defence Minister, Teo Chee Hean, said that it was a defective component in an Apache helicopter from Squadron 120 that caused the pilot to do an emergency crash landing in an open field in Woodlands. The defective component was an Anti-Ice Start Bleed Valve (AISBV) that had led to a sudden loss of power and eventually shut-down of both engines during flight. The defect was caused by corrosion in the valve which occurred over time and there was no evidence that there were manufacturing defects in those valves.
RSAF E-2C Hawkeye Decommissioned

The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) has retired its fleet of E-2C Hawkeye, an Airborne Early Warning Aircraft. One of the E-2C made its last flight from Tengah Airbase to Paya Lebar Airbase. The aircraft will form part of RSAF Air Force Museum's static display which will be accessible to the public.
Apache Helicopter Crash Landed

A Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF 120 Squadron) Apache AH-64 helicopter from Sembawang Air Base made an emergency landing in an open field next to Seagate Woodlands Building. According to the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF), the helicopter was on a routine flight when it encountered engine problems and the two pilots chose an open field to crash land it.
Aermacchi M-346 Jet Trainer For RSAF

Singapore Defence Ministry (MINDEF) announce in September 2010 a half billion dollars (S$543 million) contract to a consortium consisting of Italian manufacturer Alenia Aermacchi will provide the Aermacchi M-346 aircraft; Honeywell will supply each of the 12 aircraft the F124 engines (S$54 million each); Boeing, will provide training and simulator systems; and ST Aerospace, will provide 25-year maintenance services and overall management of the Advanced Jet Trainer replacement project. Alenia Aermacchi finalized contracts with ST Aerospace in June 2011 to provide logistics support for the fleet. Alenia Aermacchi M-346 "Master" Advanced Jet Trainer (AJT) lead-in fighter for RSAF's Fighter Wings Course (FWC) located in Cazaux in France.
Exercise Pitch Black

About 180 personnel and various aircraft, eight F-16 C/D fighter jets, an E-2C Airborne Early Warning aircraft and a KC-135R tanker aircraft from the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) are participating in Exercise Pitch Black, a multilateral air combat exercise. According to Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) this is the 20th year (since 1990) of Exercise Pitch Black which started between Singapore and Australia and later included other air forces in the region. It gave RSAF the opportunity to conduct air operations under realistic training conditions and enhance inter-operability with other participating air forces. The excercise was held in Darwin (Australia) between 16 July 2010 to 6 August 2010.
PM Visited RSAF Detachment At Mountain View

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong visited the Peace Carvin V detachment facility located at Mountain View (US) Air Force Base, Idaho, USA. Peace Carvin V is a partnership between Singapore and the US that spans 25 years. Singapore bought 24 new F-15SG jets under the tie-up arrangement. It is at this base that RSAF pilots are trained to fly and operate the advanced fighter aircraft, which makes up part of the SAF's 3rd-Generation defence capabilities. The F-15SG squadron is part of the air force's Air Combat Command which plans, controls and executes air warfare operations. The RSAF F-15SG detachment was inaugurated in 2009.
F15 Jets Came Home

The 149 Squadron of the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) inaugurated. 149 Squadron (F15 Squadron) will come under the Air Combat Command (ACC) which plans, controls and executes air warfare operations.The ceremony was held at the Paya Lebar Airbase. This is a significant milestone in the development of the air force's capabilities. Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Teo Chee Hean said in the inauguration ceremony that the F-15SGs will also play a very important role in the Singapore Armed Forces overall operations, including its ability to 'deal decisively' with future threats.
ST Engineering wins RSAF maintenance contract

ST Engineering today announced that its aerospace arm, ST Aerospace, has been awarded two maintenance contracts for six years by the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) for a total value of SGD $363 million. The maintenance contract is for maintaining RSAF's fleet of aircraft.
